64-bit Windows SUU availability

Hi All,

I'm trying to update an R320 running Window Server 2012 but can only find a 32-bit version of the Windows SUU here. Running this on a 64-bit server means that some updates (like firmware) fail with a message that such updates must be run from a 32-bit OS.

I can't source a 64-bit Windows SUU from the Dell support website and using the Dell Respository Manager doesn't yield 64-bit Windows bundles from Dell's FTP source either.

Can anyone please shed any light on this situation at all?

EDIT: I've just re-run the SUU and it's completed apart from some Broadcom firmware updates which I've managed to do from the Lifecycle Controller instead so maybe I'm talking rubbish now.  I'm sure I've seen this behaviour using SUU 7.3.1 on a PE2950 running 2008 R2 though.  Has anyone else come across this?  Thanks.

Missing 2 ports (Embedded NIC 1: Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet BCM5720)

When I log on to one of my servers via the Dell CMC Administrator Control Panel, and go to Network Devices, and then click on Embedded NIC 1: Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet BCM5720 I can only see 2 ports up. The other 2 ports (port 3 and port 4) are has not got any Link Status.

I got a big new system with 4 x PE VRTX, each with 3 x PowerEdge M520 servers. On the other machines there is no error...

I have a PE2900 with a MD1000/PERC5e and I was wondering if I can bring it over to a new R910/S2012/H700 64 bit machine. Specifically, Will the PERC5/E work with the hardware and OS?

iDRAC6 Firmware update and version questions

I am about to bring all my iDRAC6 up to date with the latest firmware and I have a few questions.

The latest version listed for download is iDRAC6_1.80_A01_FW_IMG.exe

iDRAC6 firmware download page:

That's 1.80 but if you go to the bottom of that page higher version numbers of 1.85, 1.90 and 1.92 are listed as previous versions.

That doesn't make sense.

Where can I download 1.92 as it seems to be the latest version.

Some of my iDRAC6 are still at firmware version 1.50.

Can I go right from 1.50 to the latest or do I need to do it in steps? If steps then which ones to get to the latest. I don't want to brick my drac!

root\dcim\sysman missing

I have discovered that about 10% of my managed systems with OMCI installed are not reporting inventory data to SCCM.  In call cases I've checked, the root\dcim\sysman repository is not present on the machine. Is there a command I can run from one of the OMCI installed files to have it try to re-generate the repository?

I'm installing OMCI through a normal package install during SCCM OSD task sequence.  OMCI itself installs successfully, appears healthy, all except the repository.  No indication of anything gone wrong from the MSI log generated during the install.  SCCM HW inventory can't see the repository and I can't access it manually through command line or wbemtest.  If I uninstall and re-install OMCI manually that will recreate the repository on the few machines I've tested it on.

Quest Software - Active Directory Administor

Hello,

I am a new member in this forum. And i have a question about Quest Active Directory Administor. So please, feel free, to relocate that post if this not the relevant corner.

Actually, it's about Auditing Active Directory Changes. Here what i did exactly:

  • Installed Collection Agents in some domain controlers as a start,
  • Configured some custom reports,
  • Configured Audit GPO as stated in the different forums and blogs,

But the problem is I still have the report empty, while in the concerned domain controlers, a new entry created has been created called Active Administrator and i can see the changes listed in it.. but when in the Active Administrator Console, the reports are still empty..

How can i manage to make everything work correctly? should i do something else in the Active Administrator or Active Directory GPOs?

iDrac Browser compatibility

Hi Folks, Just wondering what browsers people are using for iDrac; I've a bunch of Version 6/7 iDrac's that I need to update but I don't want to find out too late that they don't work with a specific browser, or need a certain version of Java to run. Is there a Dell doc out there? Jeff

Does anyone know where or if sysmemvolt is available via winrm? It is not in DCIM_MemoryView and I can find it anywhere else. Any help would be appreciated.

Syscfg.exe and omreport.exe get it fine:
C:\>syscfg --sysmemvolt
sysmemvolt=1.35v

C:\>omreport chassis biossetup
System Memory Voltage                             : 1.35V

OMS 7.3.0, Win Server 2003-32bit, "No Storage Controllers Detected"

My server: PowerEdge 2800, Windows server 2003, 32 bit.

I've updated every driver possible, even the BIOS. OMS shows embedded slot with "PERC 4e/Di RAID controller".

The OMS install is full, didn't uncheck anything. Storage shows "No storage controllers detected". I've seen lots of advise and fixes for Linux, but nothing official for Windows.

Anybody? Anybody? Anybody?

invcol causes Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I am installing OM 7.3.0.1 on SELS 11 sp3 64 bit servers. 

Install goes fine and everything starts fine until I install the collection manager, srvadmin-cm-7.3.0-350. 

After I install cm and try to start I get a segmentation fault and core dump.  After some troubleshooting I discovered that /opt/dell/srvadm/sbin/invcol is the culprit.

From the log file:  invcol[6608]: segfault at 0 ip 00000000f726f44d sp 00000000ffe848b8 error 4 in libc-2.11.3.so[f71f7000 +167000]

I've installed OM on several SELS 11 sp2 64 bit with no issues.  OM starts up and runs just fine. 

It appears to me as if there is a slight difference in the glibc-32bit library's, but I don't know what.  SELS 11 sp2 has glibc-32bit-2.11.3-17.31.1 and SELS 11 sp3 has glibc-32bit-2.11.3-17.54.1.  

Any suggestions?

random classes missing when querying idrac6 and idrac7 via winrm

I am trying to implement a detailed server inventory via winrm to the idrac but have seemingly random classes failing to get data.

Here is what I have noticed:
- the command looks to succeed but returns nothing. This is like returning a 0 exit code when something fails. This gets under my skin.
- the issue is sparse but is across multiple block releases on multiple gen idracs. I have seen issues on 11th gen idrac 1.90 (our current standard) and 12th gen 1.23.23 and 1.45.45 (our current standard)
- the issue seems to be consistent and persistent per host. If these three class are missing today, they will be missing tomorrow. However the same three classes are not missing across multiple hosts and idrac gen.

racresets fix some but not all the issues.

Does anyone know what is going on or of a way to troubleshoot this more?  I am willing to accept the kneejerk "update your FW" for the 12th gen on 1.23.23 but probably not for 11th 1.90 and 12th 1.45.45.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How come the SUU repository DVD does not work ...I have downloaded twice combined them three times and burned 3 DL discs 4times but it never works no matter how set it up with external dvdrw dl also replaceing dvd with dvdrw dl no matter how it never can see the repository...have also created it on a USB key to no avail even tried to make all packages part of the root to no avail. We sell a lot of servers and I need to be able to update the bios firmware and ect. prior to shipping ...without a OS Loaded.

How to CCTK to reset the bios of computers with different passwords

Good evening everyone,

Im working at a company withthousands of Dell Optiplex 780,790,3010 running. Former IT personell set alot of different BIOS passwords, depending on the location. We want to set one unique password for all the workstations.

I've created multiple executables with the CCTK gui for each know bios password. I created a batch file when it runs the first one it skips to the next one and so on. It works when I run the batch file with a administrator account. When I set the batch script as a computer policy by GPO it doesn't run the executables.

Is their anyone who knows a best practice, or how to accomplish this and can help me save a couple weeks of work.

Dell Systems Management DVD

Hi, I'm new to the Dell server tools.  I use SCCM 2012 R2, and want to start building our current Dell Servers with it. 

I found the Dell Server Driver Package tool, which looks like it will let me import PowerEdge server driver packages, exactly what I want.

When I go to run the import wizard, it asks me for a "Dell Systems Management DVD".  I searched around for this, but the latest DVD online I found was from 2011.  Is there a newer version, or has this been renamed?  The servers I want to create driver packages for are R710, R720, T620

Thanks in advance for any info on getting this done.  I'm hoping this is similar to the Desktop deployment CABS which I find excellent.

iDRAC7 1.51.51 Cannot log in using IE after applying this update

I have applied the iDRAC 7 update 1.51.51 to two of my R720's and I can no longer log in to the DRAC using IE. If I use Firefox I can log in. We were running 1.46.45 prior to this update and it worked from IE. Has anyone else seen this issue?

Hi: Our server PowerEdge T310, Serv Tag: 2Z2K3L1 HAS A RAID 1 Onboard Controller. Drive 1 failed and I had to swap it. Does anyone know if the RAID1 will auto rebuild on the second drive? Do I have to tell the RAID 1 to do it? How can I check to see if the second drive has been rebuilt?

DRAC5 latest firmware and IE10?

I'm starting to migrate all our Hyper-V hosts from 2008 R2 SP1 to 2012 R2. Some of our test servers are older 19/2950s with DRAC5 cards. I can get the Remote Console to load under IE 10/JRE 1.7.45 but not the virtual media. At first it said that the 32-bit plugin (virtual media) couldn't be opened in a 64-bit browser. So I disabled IE Enhanced security mode, added the IP to trusted sites and now it simply returns "Virtual media session is unavailable". 

Normally I'd go to a box with an older version of IE/Java but that's not an option. 

Any suggestions on getting this working under IE 10?
