R710 - cannot find "SR-IOV Global Enable"

Hi,

I just get another R710 Server for scientic purpose.

I installed all new availabe Firmware and Updates. However I still cannot find the "SR-IOV Global Enable" Option in BIOS. Does anyone has another hint, what I can do to get SR-IOV running.

I checked "lspci" and "lshw" commands (compared with another R710 Server, where SR-IOV is working).

I only found a Delta concerning the Mainboard product label:

sr-iov working server: mainboard product label: 0MD99X

sr-iov not available option server: mainboard product label: 0M233H

Please help.

Thanks in Advance

DCIM human readable values (MOF mapper?)

Does anyone know if there is an automated way already provided to map the DCIM integer values to human readable values? Currently I need to manually map the integer to human readable with the MOF files.. I haven't done much with MOF files so maybe I am missing a simple solution.

For example, in DCIM_PhysicalDiskView:

PrimaryStatus value of "1" maps to "OK"

Also, where did http://linux.dell.com/files/dcim/2/html/ go? This DCIM documenting site was so much better than looking at the MOFs.

Thanks for any help

Firmware selection for servers running Citrix XenServer 6.0

Here on the Dell site when I do a product look up and then click on Drivers and Diagnostics and then choose Citrix XenServer 6.0 as the OS type it is giving me only .exe download options.

For example this drac updater:

iDRAC6_1.97_A00_FW_IMG.exe

Shouldn't it offer me a .BIN file?

I need to run it from the OS not upload it through the DRAC GUI.

I'm able to remotely communicate with a server's BMC with the following command when the default "all zeros" are entered into the Encryption Key configuration.

sudo ipmitool -I lanplus -H <IP Address> -U <User Name> chassis power status

Yet I get the following error when I use an encryption/kg key symetric pair:

sudo ipmitool -I lanplus -H <IP Address> -U <User Name> -k <KG Key> -vv chassis power status

SCUP 2011 through SCCM2012 - Drivers not listing required / compliant

$

Hello. I have configured and setup System Center Updates Publisher 2011 correctly with my WSUS server and my SCCM 2012 installation. I was thrilled to discover that Dell publishes a whole mess of drivers and BIOS through a catalogue to SCUP. I published them to SCCM. From there I loaded up the Dell OpenManage Inventory Agent into a few systems in the office for testing. Sure enough it populates required and compliant information on the system its deployed to, and allows for remote installation of new BIOS to our workstations. Unfortunately all of the drivers provided in the Dell catalogue show 0 required and 0 compliant. I would assume that there is just no functionality for driver updates through the SCCM/WSUS/SCUP except that this function works perfectly for BIOS'. Is there another Dell application to install besides the Inventory Agent to get the install information to populate, or is this just something that doesn't work? Thanks, any help on this is appreciated. Being able to remotely update and monitor driver compliance would be a huge time saver.

Dear All,

We have lots of R720 Servers, and monitor via omreport command.

When omreport command issued at same server, the output is different.

omreport chassis shows everything is OK including Processers,

but omreport system and omreport chassis porcesser command shows critical

why output is different between commands?

This machine state is OK? or critical state?

VMware Server Administrator 7.4 showing non Dell disks with yellow indicator

$

My Open Manage Essentials (1.3) console is showing each of my VMware servers in a yellow alert condition and connecting to the Server Administrator (7.4) on the host shows all of the non Dell disk drives in a yellow state. All drives are in a ready condition and otherwise do not appear to have any problem. This makes Open Manage useless for a quick visual indicator as the system is in fact healthy other than using a non dell disk. I do not recall this behavior in the earlier versions, well other than some ugly issues with not even allowing the creation of a RAID set unless they were all Dell certified disks. Is this going to be corrected or do I need to look at some other vendor agnostic monitoring solution?

OMSA 7.4 on Windows 7 confusion

$

0

Does anyone know if OMSA 7.4 works in Windows 7 (x64 Enterprise). I have a Dell PE1950 that needs to run this OS for some custom software. I want to monitor this servers hardware health in Dell OME that runs on another box,

Clicking the download link for OMSA 7.4

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r820?driverId=28KFC&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3350815027

..and checking "compatibility" I can see Windows 7 is listed. However after installing I'm unable to log in via the app or going to https://my-server-name:1311

Also I don't understand why the app and web page ask for a host name. I just want to log into the local box OMSA is running on to see the hardware stats.

This is the first time I've used OMSA on WIndows - all my other systems are Linux. Those don't ask for a host name when you log in.

I've spent a good hour hunting around the many many many documents hosted on this site and not managed to find an answer. Personally I find the whole multitude of product names, combinations and permutations of all the Dell Management software components horribly confusing.

Any help appreciated!

Nick

Copy F/W updates to current repository

Hello, I usually download the SUU from dell site and unzip and uploaded to my ome server as when dell releases … apart from building up SUU file separately … for the upcoming critical/recommended updates … Is there any way I can download the catalog.cab separately from dell site and copy that in to my old repository .. and then download the particular updates separately and copied in to the same repository until the next official SUU releases ? Thanks Best regards dnet

Getting RAID infrmation on dell servers running windows 7

Hi

We have been working with Openmanage Essentials(OME) and Openmanage Server administrator(OMSA) to get information from our dell servers(with SAS 6 ir controller) via omreport.

The problem comes to one of our servers which is running on windows 7. Apparently, it is not possible to install OMSA with Command line intrerface on windows 7.

Is there any way or any software we can use on windows 7, so we can get information via command line ?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I need some help on debugging my vbScript to activate/deactivate TPM using OMCI 8.0. I was able to enable/disable TPM using my other vbscript. However, I was not able to activate/deactivate the TPM. Here's my script:

strNameSpace = "root\dcim\sysman"
strComputerName = WScript.Arguments(0)
strClassName = "DCIM_BIOSEnumeration"
strKeyValue = "Root/MainSystemChassis/BIOSSetupParent/BiosSetupTPMACT"

'*** Retrieve the instance of DCIM_BIOSEnumeration class for the TPM
Set objInstance = GetObject("WinMgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate," &_
    "AuthenticationLevel=pktprivacy}\\" & strComputerName & "\" &_
    strNameSpace & ":" & strClassName & "=" & Chr(34) & strKeyValue & Chr(34))

'*** Value: 1   Description: Deactivate
'*** Value: 2   Description: Activate
If objInstance.CurrentValue(0) = 2 Then
 Wscript.Echo "TPM is currently activated already!"
Else
    Wscript.Echo "TPM is currently deactivated, activate it now!"
    strClassName = "DCIM_BIOSService"
    strAttributeName(0) = objInstance.AttributeName
    strAttributeValue(0) = "2"
    strAuthorizationToken = "myBiosAdminPwd"

    returnValue = 0
    '*** Retrieve the instance of DCIM_BIOSService class
    Set objWMIService = GetObject("WinMgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate," &_
   "AuthenticationLevel=pktprivacy}\\" & strComputerName & "\" & strNameSpace)
    Set ColSystem=objWMIService.execquery ("Select * from " & strClassName)

    For each objInstance in ColSystem
        Set oInParams = objInstance.Methods_("SetBIOSAttributes").InParameters.SpawnInstance_
        oInParams.AttributeName = strAttributeName
        oInParams.AttributeValue = strAttributeValue
        oInParams.AuthorizationToken = strAuthorizationToken
        Set returnValue = objInstance.ExecMethod_("SetBIOSAttributes", oInParams)

Full message: Could not start the DSM SA Connection Service service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fasion. This is a PowerEdge 2900 with what I believe is the most current version of OMSA available for this hardware. It was working for a while and then just stopped, not sure when. I've done a fair amount of searching and can't find anything on this. Can anyone help? All of the other DSM SA services started properly. Thanks

Firmware update weirdness

I run firmware updates on my linux systems pretty regularly running the .BIN files from the OS and then rebooting to apply them.

On a recent update when I did the reboot it did not automatically go into system services and run the updates. I updated a PERC and the NICs so it should have. Any idea why and how to troubleshoot?

Error using racadm to update iDRAC7 firmware - bmcfwu.so: command not found

I am attempting to update the firmware on an iDRAC7 from the linux host running Centos 6.5.

When I run:

/opt/dell/srvadmin/sbin/racadm fwupdate -p -u -d /tmp/firmimg.d7

I get the following error:

sh: bmcfwu.so: command not found

That library exists on the system    /opt/dell/toolkit/bin/bmcfwu.so

Anyone know what might get this working? We have about 500 iDRAC's to update due to this issue:

Adding a custom firmware to a catalog

Hi, Recently started using Dell Repository Manager with OME and currently in configuration stage.

We are using SUU version 741 as a repository catalog and would like to know if it is possible to add custom firmware (ESM_Firmware_XH6FX_WN64_1.57.57_A00) to this repository.

Is this possible and if so how?
